Launching a New Generation of Twitter for Mac
During my time with Black Pixel of our highest profile engagements was partnering on the redesign of Twitter for Mac, their first desktop client (launched years prior as Tweetie). At the time, the Mac app had been running off the original (Tweetie) code base and was bloated, slow, and lacking many features that had previously been launched in their iOS and Android apps.
We worked closely with a small team of Twitter designers, sharing wireframe and visual design iterations daily, while our engineers rearchitected the app from the ground up.
The new app was launched in late 2015, and included support for a variety of new features, including multi-image attachments, GIF search, Moments, and the first appearance of a dark theme (later ported to iOS and Android).
